Respiratory Therapist (Full-Time)

Wellington Health Care Alliance is currently accepting applications for 1 full-time and 2 part-time Respiratory Therapist to join our team. The Respiratory Therapist makes decisions and accepts responsibility for all aspects of Respiratory patient care in accordance to Departmental, Hospital(s) and Legislative Standards that govern the profession.  The Respiratory Therapist is primarily responsible in a clinical role for the assessment, treatment, education and management of patients.  This position has the additional responsibility for the management of day to day service operations, staff support, as well as other delegated educational and administrational activities. The ideal candidate is someone who has an excellent working knowledge and experience with all aspects of core competencies of the Respiratory Therapist role.

You have:

  • Degree in Respiratory Therapy from Approved School
  • Current Certificate of Competence with CRTO
  • Current BCLS and NRP essential. PALS and ACLS preferred
  • Certified Respiratory Educator certification preferred

You will:

  • Be responsible for the day-day management and operation of the Respiratory Therapy service and for ensuring safe, effective and efficient delivery of quality care
  • Effectively communicate and work with other team members to provide patient care continuity
  • Chart patient care records according to departmental and professional standards
  • Perform pre-operational check, calibration, some maintenance and trouble shooting of mechanical ventilation equipment
  • Initiate, monitor and adjust mechanical ventilation (invasive and non-invasive)
  • Administer a range of medical gases and anesthetic agents
  • Perform airway management and provide non-invasive positive airway pressure therapy
  • Perform cardiopulmonary assessments/monitoring of patients requiring respiratory therapy/cardiopulmonary services including taking patient history, and conducting a complete physical assessment as related to respiratory therapy
  • Set up and use equipment to monitor and record patient’s pulmonary and cardiac status
  • Perform sputum induction/collection procedures
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities within the scope of the profession
