Excellence in Family Centred Maternity Care
In September of 2009, Groves Memorial Community Hospital (GMCH) Anaesthesia and Obstetrics Groups launched a round-the-clock anaesthetic/epidural services for women in labour. The new service is possible due to the recent recruitment of two family doctors with anaesthesia training. In the last year, GMCH has upgraded newborn equipment, renovated and expanded one of the two labour rooms and many of the post-partum beds are now private rooms permitting partners to room-in with Mom and newborn(s). All of the recent changes are part of an on-going commitment to provide excellence in family centered maternity care.
