Groves Memorial Community Hospital offers a wide range of services for adult patients that have Type 1, Type 2 and Gestational diabetes.
Through this education program, patients learn about diabetes and what steps they can take to stay healthy (diet, exercise/activity and medication options).
The Diabetes Education Centre supports inpatients as well as outpatients. If you have been recently diagnosed or have had diabetes for a long time and you would like to receive further education, please ask your family physician to send a referral to us with recent lab work and any medications that you are currently taking.

The Diabetes Education Centre offers the following services:
- Individual appointments with our Registered Nurses and/or our Registered Dietitians who are certified diabetes educators
- Variety of classes (including introduction to diabetes, management of diabetes, carbohydrate counting, foot care and an insulin pump program)
- Chiropodist (Foot care specialist) assessment for people at high risk of foot complications
- Visits with an Endocrinologist (Diabetes specialist) with a referral from your physician
What to Bring
Please remember to bring your Health Card, medication list and blood sugar record with you on the day of your appointment. Please register at the Physiotherapy/Chiropody Department prior to your appointment.
Hours of Operation
Inpatient hours are Monday thru Friday 8am-4pm
Outpatient hours are Monday thru Friday 8am-4pm with some evening appointments available upon request.
